As the driving force behind Platform, the custom furniture design and manufacturing division of Unisource Solutions, Jessy Miguel helps clients translate vision into form by creating pieces that shape how teams connect, collaborate, and thrive.
We sat down with her to talk about what fuels Platform’s approach, how it’s reshaping the landscape of workplace design, and where she sees the future of custom furniture heading.

About Platform
Q: How do you describe Platform to someone hearing about it for the first time?
A: Platform is Unisource Solutions’ in-house custom furniture division, a place where ideas and conversations take shape. We design and manufacture bespoke pieces that bring intention and personality to the workplace. Every project begins with understanding how people use their spaces, and it ends with furniture that feels thoughtful, functional, and uniquely theirs.
Q: What sets Platform apart from other furniture manufacturers?
A: Platform is not just a local manufacturer – we’re collaborators and problem solvers from concept to completion. Our team blends design insight, material expertise, and fabrication capabilities to craft one-of-a-kind pieces that align with a client’s brand, culture, and spatial needs. What sets us apart is our ability to bridge design thinking with fabrication expertise, transforming ideas into product solutions that are intentional and long-lasting.
Jessy’s Journey
Q: What drew you to the world of workplace strategy and design?
A: I’ve always been curious about the relationship between people and their environment, and how space can influence the state of mind, creativity, and connection. Workplace design offered the right blend and balance of creativity and purpose. It’s design with purpose and impact; where every decision supports how people work, move, and collaborate.
Q: Before Platform, what experiences shaped how you think about client spaces?
A: Before leading Platform, my work in the commercial interiors industry focused on workplace, public, and aviation environments. Those experiences taught me the importance of storytelling through a client’s brand, values, and space, while using product and materiality as the solution to make a space feel inviting and purposeful. That foundation carries through everything we do and is at the core of Platform today.

The Human Side
Q: When you’re not thinking about workspaces, what are you doing?
A: You can usually find me exploring Los Angeles, trying new restaurants, heading out on morning and evening walks with my four-legged child, or visiting local spots that spark inspiration. My neighborhood in Pasadena is one of my favorite places to unwind, explore, and observe. When I’m home, I enjoy working on my textile collections – a creative outlet that lets me explore with color, texture, and craft in a more tactile, personal way.
Q: Coffee order? Playlist for focus days?
A: An americano with a splash of milk is my go-to, but on days when I want to treat myself, I’ll order a specialty latte to mix things up. My focus playlists are mostly ambient; music that fades into the background but keeps the momentum going. Lately, I’ve been listening to Hermanos Gutiérrez, Sade, and The Smoothies.
Vision + Connection
Q: What do you want people to feel when they experience Platform?
A: I want them to feel inspired and understood. Every Platform piece we create is a response to a specific need or vision, and when people experience our work, I hope they sense the care, collaboration, and intention behind it.
Q: How can clients or partners best collaborate with you?
A: The best collaborations happen when clients invite us in early – when the project is still full of possibilities. Collaboration works best when it feels like a shared discovery process, not just a transaction. When everyone’s invested in the “why,” the results always speak for themselves.
